I have lived in Japan for more than 10 years since completing a Master's Degree in Asian Studies at the University of Michigan. I worked for three years as a project manager at a marketing research company in Tokyo, as an English conversation instructor in various settings, and as a freelance Japanese to English translator/proofreader. Currently I am involved in translation projects and  proofread English language teaching materials. Since 2016 I have been teaching yoga to children and therapeutic and mindfulness yoga classes to adults in yoga studios, at a preschool, at my home, in parks, etc., throughout Chiba prefecture.

After giving birth to my daughter, I completed a 200-hour Yoga Alliance teacher training program in Japan (conducted in the Japanese language). Following that training, I returned to America to study yoga therapy, participating in programs offered by Donna Farhi, Judith Hanson Lasater, Kripalu Integrative Yoga Therapy, and Phoenix Rising. I am particularly interested in issues surrounding student empowerment, trauma-sensitive yoga, and the relationship between yoga and somatics (e.g. Feldenkrais). I also actively study yoga philosophy and regularly practice meditation. A type 1 diabetic since the age of two, I explore not only "yoga" and Ayurveda, but nutrition and exercise more broadly, as much for my own health as well as to keep up with the profession. As a teacher, my number one goal is for clients to feel confident in their bodies and in their ability to express themselves.
